1 - Assignment of leasehold premises near Brinney Lane in parish of Oystermouth, for the unexpired term of 99 years. Parties: 1. John Harris of Brinney Inn, Oystermouth, victualler. 2. David Gibbs of Swansea, victualler. In 1819 the Duke of Beaufort had leased to John Harris the marshy land near Brinnea Lane for a term of 99 years. John Harris had built 2 houses. How for a consideration of £131 he transferred the unexpired lease to David Gibbs.
2 - Copy of the will of Mrs Ruth Gibbs.
3 - Attested copy of power of attorney. Samuel Gibbs, formerly of Swansea, ironmonger, but now of Colorado in U.S.A., was the eldest son of the late David (d.l846) and the late Ruth Gibbs (d. 1879). He appointed Joseph Gibbs to be his attorney. The public house was know as the Woodman at this date, and underleased to John John.
4 - Assignment of leasehold lands at Blackpill. Parties: 1. Joseph Gibbs of Heathfield Place, Swansea, commercial traveller; Lydia Gibbe of Sketty, spinster; Samuel Gibbs of Colorado, farmer. Benjamin Gibbs of Sketty, gent., know as The Vendors. 2. John Vedlake of Wassail St, Swansea, licensed victualler. 3. William Graham Vivian of Clyne Castle, Esq. Vivian paid £200 to the vendors for this property near Brinnea Lane. Pinned to this deed are 3 letters relating to the lease of the Woodman.
5 - Assignment of leasehold premises 6, 7 and 8 Brooklands Terrace, Blackpill. Parties: 1. John John of Blackpill, retired licensed victualler - the vendor. 2. John Reel of Brooklands Terrace, inspector of tramways. 3. Thomas John of The E1ms, Mumbles, plumber. 4. John John, the younger, of Mumbles, builder - the purchaser. This deed refers to a lease of 1852 to John John, senior, by Ruth Gibbs of land and the inn called Brinney, later known as the Woodman. This messuage is no longer used as a public house and the licence is transferred to premises on the opposite side of the turnpike road. 11 houses have been built on the land, numbers 1-11 Brooklands Terrace. Reference is also made to an underlease of 16 March 1877, between John John and David Lloyd of the Schoolhouse, opposite the Woodman, now 5 and 4 Brooklands Terrace. This deed of 1891 is an agreement to sell the lease of 6, 7 and 8 for £175. With this are 2 receipts of land rent, dated 1880.
6 - Mortgages of 6, 7 and 8 Brooklands Terrace. Parties: 1. John John, the younger, mortgager. 2. William Graham Vivian of Clyne Park, Esq., mortgagee. Vivian agreed to lend £180. With this deed there is a letter from Richard Quenbrall at the Hafod Copper Works, 27 Jun 1895, saying he had settled the purchase of these cottages for £l27 l6s. 5d.
7 - Assignment of messuages 9 and 10 Brooklands Terrace. Parties: 1. Thomas John of The Elms, Mumbles, plumber. 2. William Graham Vivian of Clyne Park, Esq. On the second membrane of parchment: 8 Mar 1901. Assignment of 11, Brooklands Terrace, made between the same parties.
