DescriptionTrack 1 [01:19:28] [Session one: 9 July 2019] Professor Iwan Davies [ID], born 14 January 1958, in the Rehobarth Baptist Chapel Manse, Briton Ferry, South Wales. ID briefly explains moving to Treboeth, - father became Minister at Caersalem Newydd, Treboeth. ID briefly mentions attending Ysgol Lonlas junior school and Dinefwr Grammar School [DGS], Swansea. ID praises DGS teaching standard. Tells anecdote about his ‘greatest accolade’ at school - a teacher commented ID and Rowan Williams were the best pupils he ever taught. ID characterises his upbringing – Welsh household, a traditional chapel going community, an eminent boy soprano (8-12/13 years old). ID mentions his ‘A’ level subjects - theology, history, geography. Explains choosing Aberystwyth University to study law -won Evan Morgan Scholarship, and tradition of Aberystwyth law graduates continuing to ‘the bar’ after completing studies at Cambridge University.
