Description | The collection mainly covers papers illustrating Marian Henry Jones (née Phillips) student (1931-1937) and lecturing years (1939-1944) at University College Swansea (South Wales), and her PhD years at The School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College London (1937- c 1939). Some content relates to later professional and personal activities and relationships whilst living in Aberystwyth (Ceredigion). Included are: student and professional notebooks and loose notes some with associated newspaper cuttings; examination papers; examination answer booklets; 2 class registers including one belonging to W.N. Medlicott inserted with a personal/academic letter; draft master’s thesis of ‘Marian Phillips’; official University College of Swansea printed material; official School of Slavonic and East European Studies printed material; draft obituaries with associated photographs and newspaper cuttings; published material; academic, official and personal correspondence with associated ephemera; professional photographs. Also included are student notes and essay of Megan Davies (13/1/6/4 and 13/1/6/6). There do not appear to be any notes from Marian’s PhD studies although correspondence and ephemera is present. The creation date beginning 1882 relates to a series of published parliamentary papers from 1882-1886 (UNI/SU/PC/13/1/6/26). |
